Artist Statement

I am called a Satirical, Social Surrealist. I encourage my viewers to examine carefully what lies hidden behind the ostensible world we live in. In my paintings - usually oil on canvas or panel - I try to address, metaphorically, my great concern for the self-defeating pursuits of Modern man: the apocalyptic madness of nations, the rape of the environment, the frantic obsession with wealth and pleasure, the technological advances which, too often, flatten the human sprit. On the other hand, I also try to express my hopes for a brighter future through exuberant color and clean fluid, dancing lines - as well as tongue-in-cheek satire which, I believe, somehow lightens the load for us all.
